Can I Help?If you are a resident of North East Scotland, from Dundee through Angus and Aberdeenshire to the Banffshire Coast, I am able to act on your behalf in a number of ways. What I can do:
In the Region: I am able to assist with issues including housing, policing, the environment and more. This may involve writing on your behalf to an external body such as the health board or the council. In Parliament: Some matters relate to policy made by the government. Where issues you have raised expose areas where policy should be changed or clarified, I can make representations on your behalf to the appropriate government minister. In the Liberal Democrats: I will listen to your views on local and national issues in order to shape future Liberal Democrat policy. What I can't do:Planning: I can raise bureaucratic issues with the council, but cannot take a personal view for or against any individual planning application. I must act impartially for all my constituents. It is the job of councillors to decide on the outcome of the application in each local area committee (though they can be overruled if the developer appeals to a minister). Legal Advice: I am unable to offer you legal advice of any sort but I can refer your problem to a relevant body and advise you on how to proceed. If you are in any doubt then please get in touch. Even if I cannot help you directly, I may be able to direct you to someone who can.
