MISSED OPPORTUNITY FROM SNP OVER CYCLING ACTION PLAN: MCINNES

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 25th Jun 2010

Commenting the on the release of the Government's Cycling Action Plan Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:

"While the funding for extra training and infrastructure for cycling in Scotland is welcome, the Cycling Action Plan could have been more ambitious in encouraging more people into the saddle.

"It is unfortunate that the SNP have not used this opportunity to produce a genuine step change which could of revitalised cycling in Scotland.

"Cycling can benefit people in lots of great ways. Not only does it promote a healthier lifestyle but also has far reaching benefits for the environment which makes the Government's Action plan all the more disappointing."
