MCINNES WELCOMES CLIMATE CHANGE WORKING GROUP

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 27th May 2010

Commenting after voting against the Climate Change Targets Order, Liberal Democrat Environment spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:

"From the start of this Parliament, the Liberal Democrats have argued that early action is absolutely vital in the fight to limit the worst effects of climate change.

"Early action sets the trend for years to come and that's why we want ambitious targets from day one.

"I am pleased that a signal has been sent to the Scottish Government that they must look again at proposed targets for climate change.

"I welcome the news that the Scottish Government have taken the Liberal Democrats suggestion to set up a working group to discuss Climate Change targets.

"We look forward to contributing to this very important discussion on climate change."
