Parliamentary Recognition for Fly Cup Catering on 10th Birthday

Alison presents FlyCup Catering with a cake stand to celebrate 10 years in business

Fly Cup Catering in Inverurie are to celebrate their 10th birthday next week with a party for staff, trainees and volunteers. Fly Cup have two very busy catering businesses; the sandwich shop at Burghmuir Industrial Estate and the Café at St Andrews Church, providing catering training, employment experience and employment placements to over 20 adults with learning disabilities.

Inverurie based Liberal Democrats, Alison McInnes MSP and Malcolm Bruce have been regular patrons of the St Andrew's Church café since it opened.

Alison McInnes said:

"It is a wonderful achievement for Fly Cup Catering to be celebrating their 10th birthday. The café has a very welcoming feel and all the food is home cooked.

"The employment opportunity it offers to adults with learning disabilities gives them a great sense of achievement and prepares many of them for further mainstream employment.

"I wish them many more happy years of training."

Malcolm Bruce commented:

"The social and economic benefits as well as the self esteem of the trainees at Fly Cup Catering are very obvious to all who use the café and sandwich shop. The staff, volunteers and trainees work well together and share a bond in delivering the best quality at reasonable prices.

"My staff and I are frequent visitors to the café for a bowl of hearty soup or a sandwich."

Alison McInnes has tabled a motion in Parliament congratulating Fly Cup Catering on their tenth birthday.

Ten Years of the Fly Cup.

That the Parliament congratulates Fly Cup Catering of Inverurie as it celebrates its tenth birthday; notes the outstanding work they do, not only in offering good food to the people of Inverurie at the Fly Cup Sandwich Shop and the Fly Cup Cafe, but also in providing catering training, employment experience and employment placements for adults with learning disabilities; believes that Fly Cup sets an excellent example for other similar initiatives to follow, and wishes them continued success for the next ten years and beyond.
