MCINNES: GOVERNMENT ARE GIVING WITH ONE HAND AND TAKING AWAY WITH THE OTHER

12.00.00am GMT Tue 23rd Feb 2010

Commenting on news that the funding for the Bus Services Operators Grant will be increased, Liberal Democrat Transport Spokeswoman Alison McInnes MSP said:

"Increasing the Bus Service Operators Grant is long overdue and I am glad that the SNP have acknowledged the error of their ways and reinstated this grant which they cut back.

"However coupled with the review of concessionary fares funding, it looks like the government is giving with one hand and taking away with the other.

"The SNP have driven a very hard bargain on the reimbursement rate for bus operators on concessionary fares and my concern is that they have squeezed too hard.

"Fare paying passengers are going to feel the pinch."
