MCINNES REVEALS CONSOLATION PRIZE FOR FORTH BRIDGE CONTRACTORS12.00.00am GMT Tue 2nd Feb 2010 Speaking after questioning Forth Replacement Crossing project leaders in the Scottish Parliament, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes said: "I asked Transport Scotland how they would ensure value for money when there are only two contractors bidding. "It transpires that there is a 'non-success premium' written into the bidding process for the new Forth Crossing. "To you and me, this means that the unsuccessful bidder will receive up to £5 million as a consolation prize. "In these straightened times, taxpayers will look askance at this use of public money." Ends.
