Medical Compensation Figures for NHS Grampian Astonishing - McInnes

Liberal Democrat MSP for the North East, Alison McInnes, reacting to a report that showed compensation paid out by NHS Grampian for clinical negligence had more than doubled in the past year commented:

"This is an astonishing increase and, whilst the financial consequences are serious, the most important issue raised by these figures is the question of patient safety.

"At a time of financial difficulty when NHS Boards are considering drastic measures like taking nurses out of hospital wards, these figures are particularly alarming."
