MCINNES REACTS TO ARI CLEANLINESS REPORT

12.00.00am GMT Tue 24th Nov 2009

Reacting to the news that the Healthcare Environment Inspectorate (HEI) has heavily criticised ARI for "poor levels of cleanliness" and infection control, Aberdeenshire MSP Alison McInnes said:

"People will be shocked to learn that the region's major hospital has failed in this way. It's pretty fundamental really - when people are admitted to hospital they trust that the Health Service considers it a priority to ensure proper standards of cleanliness and infection control are met at all times. This is a betrayal of that trust.

"I have written to the Chief Executive of the Health Board seeking assurances that urgent action is being taken to address the problems and that new review procedures will be put in place to continually monitor the situation."
