Emergency Care Centre Must Not Overshadow Local Investment - McInnes12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 7th Apr 2009 Responding to the announcement that the new NHS Emergency Care Centre at Foresterhill is to be redesigned with an additional two floors, Alison McInnes, Aberdeenshire MSP, welcomed the new development but cautioned that this must not be at the expense of investment in primary health care services. Commenting, Mrs McInnes said: "A modern purpose built emergency care centre will ensure patients receive the best of care and will make tackling hospital borne infection easier. However, this development was already taking the lion's share of NHS Grampian's capital budget before today's announcement of another 2 floors. "The Board must ensure that there is a balance in its spending and earmark money for GP premises. For example Ellon Health Centre is bursting at the seams and I have been pressing NHS Grampian to invest in new premises. "Today's announcement must not delay that much needed local investment."
