Alison McInnes Visits Turriff Small Businesses

12.00.00am GMT Mon 23rd Feb 2009

Alison McInnes, MSP for North East Scotland, visited Turriff to speak to local independent traders about their concerns during the present recession and for the future.

Mrs McInnes, along with Malcolm Bruce, is currently conducting a small business survey.

In Turriff she met, among others, Mike Stephens of Celebrations; John Strachan from the Pharmacy and David George, Managing Director of Peters.

Mrs McInnes commented:

"Turriff is a lovely vibrant small town.

"The traders are not reporting any downturn in sales or business.

"Everyone seems to be very positive about the current position which is being echoed in other rural areas. Perhaps consumers prefer to shop nearer home where they know they will be given personal service".
