Aberdeenshire MSP Alison McInnes today called upon residents of the North East to nominate a business for the Disability and Business awards.

The awards, presented by Leonard Cheshire, recognise businesses that have become more disability friendly, and aim to encourage other business to follow suit.

Mrs McInnes said: "Many businesses are now committed to improving the accessibility of their products and services, and with a million disabled people in Scotland spending around £5 Billion per year, it's very much in their interests to continue doing so.

"There is a long way to go, but I welcome the Leonard Cheshire Disability awards which demonstrate how small changes have already made a big difference. I hope that business in Aberdeenshire will continue to show vision when it comes to including disabled people, and it is disabled customers that will be their judges.

"Anyone interested in acquiring a nomination form should either contact my regional office on 01467 628706, or Leonard Cheshire Disability directly on 0131 3469053."

Nominations close this Friday, 12 September.

The Scottish Disability and Business Awards are in their seventh year. Previous winners include the Scottish Highlands and Islands Film Commission, HBOS plc and West Lothian College.
