Aberdeenshire Parliamentarians Malcolm Bruce MP and Alison McInnes MSP welcomed Scottish Lib Dem leader Tavish Scott's visit to Aberdeenshire firm Donald Russell today (Thursday).

The Shetland MSP is visiting businesses and community groups nationwide, to see how they are coping in the current economic downturn.

Commenting on the visit, Aberdeenshire MSP Alison McInnes said:

"It was great to see Tavish Scott in Gordon so soon after his election. On Tuesday afternoon, he vowed to "get out of the Holyrood bubble". That he has already done so shows how committed he is to listening to the concerns of businesses and communities nationwide. He was certainly well-received by this Inverurie business

"I look forward to welcoming Tavish to Aberdeenshire again in the near future."

Malcolm Bruce, Lib Dem MP for Gordon said:

"Tavish Scott has vowed to hit the ground running, and I was delighted to be able welcome him to Gordon today.

"Donald Russell's business was devastated by the restrictions imposed in the wake of the BSE crisis. It now enjoys an international reputation and is expanding into new premises in Kintore.

"Traditional businesses, such as Donald Russell, deserve our support in what are challenging times for the economy."
