PO closure confirmation "disappointment": McInnes

12.18.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 30th Jul 2008

Aberdeenshire MSP Alison McInnes has expressed disappointment that none of the Aberdeenshire Post Offices scheduled for closure will be spared the axe following a public consultation.

She said: "The result of the consultation seems to be a bit of tinkering here and there.

"In the Shire nothing has changed, except a commitment to further consultation on Auchenblae. This will be a profound disappointment to residents of Rothienorman, Rhynie, Kennethmont and Lumsden, all of whom now face restricted Post Office services.

"I am pleased, at least, that the Inverurie area is not badly affected by the changes."

Montgarrie Post Office near Alford, which has been effectively shut for some time, has now been officially closed.
