12.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 25th Jun 2008

Following the announcement of Alan Campbell's resignation as Aberdeenshire Council Chief Executive, local MSP Alison McInnes has paid tribute to the work he has done for the region.

Commenting on the announcement, Mrs McInnes said: "Alan has made a tremendous contribution not only as Chief Executive of Aberdeenshire, but also as a key champion of the wider city and shire agenda.

"Having worked with Alan for 12 years as a Councillor in Aberdeenshire I saw at first hand how effective he was in his role. He is leaving the council in very good heart and for that he must be due great thanks.

"I wish him well in whatever new role he takes up."
