McInnes: SNP u-turn on MACS "welcome"

3.19.16pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 12th Jun 2008

Liberal Democrat Transports spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP has welcomed the Government's U-turn on scrapping The Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland (MACS).

The Scottish Government has announced that it will no longer amalgamate MAC with the Public Transport Users' Committee (PTUC).

Commenting, Mrs McInnes said:

"This is great news for disabled passengers across Scotland.

"MACS' statutory role gave it clout and it brought a depth of knowledge and experience to policy making.

"I am delighted that the Scottish Government has seen sense and withdrawn its flawed proposals to amalgamate MAC and PTUC."
