Peterhead tax office closure shows Labour's disdain for regions - McInnes

4.46.56pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 11th Jun 2008

Responding to news that the UK Government is planning to close Peterhead's tax office, Aberdeenshire MSP Alison McInnes said:

"I am saddened by the job losses that Peterhead will sustain if the UK Government's proposed closure goes ahead.

"It makes a mockery of Labour's pledge to locate more civil service jobs outside of the major cities.

"Liberal Democrats will pressure the Government to back up its high sounding words with actual respect for the regions and would urge everyone affected by the closure to participate in the consultation."

A pdf copy of the consultation document is available from Alison's constituency office on request.
