McInnes: Scottish Government must support haulage industry4.03.54pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 9th Jun 2008 Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes is calling on the Scottish Government to take action to support Scottish hauliers in the face of rising fuel costs. Scottish hauliers will travel from Glasgow through Edinburgh in a go-slow protest and then present a letter to the Transport Minister at the Scottish Parliament tomorrow. Commenting, Mrs McInnes said: "As Scottish hauliers are further from their market, the industry in Scotland has been particularly badly hit by the spiralling cost of fuel. "The Transport Minister must make time to sit down with hauliers and discuss what steps the Scottish Government can take to support the industry. "I intend to press the Scottish Government to explain to MSPs what action it will take later on this week in Parliament."
