Endowment recall leaves Scots postgrads "high and dry": McInnes

5.30.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 26th May 2008

Responding to the announcement that the Student Awards Agency Scotland is calling for immediate collection of all outstanding Graduate Endowment payments, Aberdeenshire MSP Alison McInnes said:

"The Minister should intervene to ensure that postgraduate students are not left high and dry.

"The government says deferred repayment was a 'goodwill gesture' but this hardly gives them the right to renege on it without notice. Postgraduates will have budgeted on not having to pay the endowment until their current studies end and this recall will force many into further debt. The government should honour the existing arrangement."
