McInnes hails Robert Gordon training camps scoop12.53.00pm GMT Wed 5th Mar 2008 North East Scotland MSP Alison McInnes has welcomed news that Robert Gordon University's sports facilities have been selected to provide Olympic training camps in 2012. Robert Gordon will host camps for Badminton, Boxing, Judo, Table Tennis, Taekwondo and Indoor Volleyball. Mrs McInnes said: "I am delighted that Robert Gordon has been listed in the Pre-Games Training Camp Guide and hope that many countries choose to send their teams to the facilities." Four separate Aberdeen venues have been selected as camps, with Robert Gordon's College providing hockey facilities, the Denwood Target Range shooting, and the Regional Sports Facility, currently being built, playing host to badminton, basketball and table tennis teams. Mrs McInnes continued: "This is a fantastic opportunity for the City and Shire, which will boost the local economy and ensure that the Olympic legacy reaches beyond London. "I hope to welcome athletes from all over the world to Aberdeen in the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games and will be working closely with councillors to ensure that we make the most of this opportunity."
