McInnes urges cross party support for hovercraft

4.40.00pm GMT Tue 19th Feb 2008

Commenting on the delay to the plans for a hovercraft service across the Forth estuary, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:

"The delay to the hovercraft service is frustrating, especially given the hugely positive response to the trial in summer last year.

"I am disappointed that Stagecoach feels that the project has been used as a political football and I urge politicians from all parties to give their backing to a permanent hovercraft service across the Forth.

"There is great potential here for an environmentally sustainable cross-Forth link, which will increase travel options for commuters between Edinburgh and Fife and help to reduce congestion by encouraging people out of their cars."
