Mixed economic review 'challenge' to Tayside - McInnes

3.04.00pm GMT Wed 30th Jan 2008

Alison McInnes today responded to a Scottish Enterprise Tayside report which gave Tayside's economy a mixed appraisal.

"There is plenty of good news in the review, including employment figures which are higher than the Scottish average. However statistics showing both that there is a qualifications shortage and a low level of start-ups present a two-fold challenge to the area, to which we must all rise."

McInnes added "In this light of this, the SNP's policy of dismantling the enterprise networks and their failure to commit to modern apprenticeships constitutes a double whammy."
