North East MSP Alison McInnes today paid tribute to Angus College and its management following a visit to the Arbroath campus.

She reserved particular praise for the college's success in attracting students from non-traditional backgrounds.

"It is remarkable that Angus College is used by people from all walks of life, aged from four years old in the nursery, to 94 years old in the Angus Gold initiative which gives retired people the opportunity to develop skills."

She continued, "It is even more impressive that the college has geared its curriculum towards the needs of industry whilst maintaining such a diverse community."

The Liberal Democrat MSP was taken around the college by Principal John Burt and Chairman Sandy Watson.

After their meeting, McInnes said "Angus college is a shining example of how further education can serve individuals with a range of personal goals." She added, "By extension it serves the community as a whole."
