North East Liberal Democrat MSP Alison McInnes today welcomed a positive report from inspectors on the Gordon Park Pre School centre in Ellon.

The centre was checked recently as part of a nationwide series on inspection by Education Scotland, part of the Scottish Government.

Mrs McInnes, who is based in Ellon, said: "I was especially impressed with the comments in the inspector's letter which is being sent to parents. He found that the children are enthusiastic and confident, and there is a welcoming and caring environment for them. I also noted that he sais that the staff work extremely well as a team, displaying a high level of commitment to improving the work of the pre-school.

"The inspection resulted in three "good" and two "satisfactory" ratings. The inspector added that they are confident that the centre's self evaluation processes are leading to improvements. I look forward to hearing more good news about the centre in the future.

"Early years education sets the foundation for life and it is important that the children are given the best opportunity as they set out in life.

"I have written to the management team asking that they pass on my congratulations to the staff."
