Commenting on the news that Scottish Enterprise has awarded GlaxoSmithKline in Montrose a £1.46 million research and development grant, North East Liberal Democrat MSP Alison McInnes said: "This grant is great news for Montrose. GlaxoSmithKline is a major local employer, and this grant could lead to another 25 jobs being created on site.
"I have had the opportunity to visit GSK Montrose in the past, so I know how important this funding will be in helping reinforce their role as a new product development facility. I am glad to see Scottish Enterprise recognise the innovation that helps GSK play a key role in the North East's economy."
Montrose Liberal Democrat Councillor David May added: "I am very pleased to see this investment that will help to safeguard existing jobs at GSK Montrose as well as creating new opportunities.
"GlaxoSmithKline is not only a globally-recognised company, it is also a big employer in Montrose. It is vitally important that Scottish Enterprise continues to help fund projects that will secure long-term jobs in Montrose and across Angus."
