Commenting on reports that early stage design work has begun on upgrading the A96 between Inverness and Nairn and the Nairn bypass, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes said:
"It took the SNP over 20 months to bring forward a transport plan, including these upgrades, and they have sat on their hands since. So I'm pleased that early stage design work is finally getting underway on these key upgrades to local roads.
"Work is at an early stage. We are still waiting for a budget and timeline for these upgrades. Scottish Ministers cannot waste anymore time. They need to crack on with these vital improvements."
