Alison McInnes and Malcolm Bruce hand over petition for Ellon Health Centre to Dr Pauline Strachan
Aberdeenshire MSP, Alison McInnes, and Gordon MP, Malcolm Bruce, have today presented a petition to NHS Grampian demanding that a "Health Centre fit for the 21st Century" be built in Ellon.
Alison and Malcolm along with Cllr. Isobel Davidson have been campaigning on this issue for some time now and have been disappointed by NHS Grampian's lack of action so far, that is why they upped the campaign and enlisted the help of local residents.
Alison McInnes said:
"In light of the pressing need for action we encouraged the people of Ellon to make their voices heard through a petition. The petition we presented today has been signed by 1030 residents, representing around one fifth of the households in the GPs' catchment area."
Malcolm Bruce added:
"Ellon's growing population has led to its Health Centre bursting at the seams. Temporary solutions such as portacabins can no longer disguise the fact that the current premises are no longer fit for purpose."
Cllr Davidson commented:
"The doctors at the Ellon Surgery are great but they are in desperate need of a modern, fit for purpose premises."
