After an alliance of SNP and Conservatives MSPs voted down a Liberal Democrat motion in the Scottish Parliament which called for business rate increases for businesses to be eased in Scotland, local Liberal Democrat MSP Alison McInnes said:
Businesses such as hotels, auction marts and petrol stations as well as retailers and even nurseries are facing massive rates tax bill increases by up to 100 and 150 per cent.
"The Conservatives have been calling for transitional support outside the Parliament for auction marts and petrol stations but today they voted against it.
"Businesses facing crippling increases will feel betrayed by them.
