Alison McInnes waits for a train in Inverurie
Alison McInnes, Aberdeenshire MSP and Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson has today called on Scotrail to provide a better, more frequent Sunday service between Inverurie and Aberdeen.
Currently there are only 5 trains each way on a Sunday. This contrasts with 22 return services Monday to Saturday.
Alison McInnes explained:
"The current service is very poor. The first train to Aberdeen on a Sunday is 11.47 and the last train back is at 21.00, that's a pretty dismal service. It doesn't serve peoples needs, whether they be commuting to work or travelling for leisure.
"I am urging Scotrail to improve the service. We know that whenever new train services are provided passenger numbers far outstrip expectations.
"At the moment if you want to catch a train to Aberdeen you had better take a flask and be prepared for a long wait!"
