The Liberal Democrats have called for public transport fares to be made fairer.
At the party's spring conference in Perth, Liberal Democrats criticised the fare structure as confusing, illogical and unfair.
Commenting after the debate, Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:
"The fare system in Scotland is inexplicably inconsistent. Train fares vary wildly, even on the same service.
"Passengers struggle to differentiate between the different types of ticket available.
"But train systems elsewhere in Europe successfully use universal ticketing systems.
"Our fares system is flawed, but it can - and must - be changed.
"It must be made fairer by focussing on the needs of passengers.
"A fairer system will be good for everyone, the rail users, good for the environment and good for Scotland's economy too."
