North East MSP Alison McInnes, has welcomed the first General Practice week in Scotland which aims to raise awareness of the range of services provided locally to patients by GP's and primary healthcare teams. The awareness week runs from 8 - 14 February.
Mrs McInnes commented:
"The theme of the week is "Celebrating the best of NHS General Practice".
"Local GPs should be celebrated for the truly great community based service that they deliver. Everyone at some point has reason to visit their GP and can do this in the knowledge that they will receive a first class service.
"With more than 21 million patient consultations taking place in Scotland's general practices each year we should be proud to have this service available and support any celebration of the outstanding work of GPs and primary healthcare teams."
