Following reports that the latest round of Scottish Rural Development Fund (SRDP) applications will not be decided until after the Christmas break, local Lib Dem MSP, Alison McInnes, commented:
"These applications were considered over a month ago with those applying being told that decisions would be made by ministers by the end of the year. The Rural Affairs Secretary has, however, stalled on making a decision on which projects will receive funding.
"A considerable amount of time, effort and money has gone into these applications. Surely the applicant deserves to know if they have been successful. In our rural communities the uncertainty caused by the delays makes it impossible for many of them to plan ahead. Also, as this round of funding has been delayed, it leaves less time for unsuccessful applications to be amended and resubmitted in time for the next round of funding."
