Commenting after speaking in a debate on the National Concessionary Travel Scheme (NCTS), Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:
"SNP Ministers should consider extending eligibility for the NCTS to include older and disabled people using community transport in rural areas.
"Elderly and disabled rural residents can get a poor deal on public transport. They get hit disproportionately hard by bus fare increases and service cuts.
"I want to see those on lower level disability living allowance become eligible for concessionary travel. Proper consideration must also be given to bringing rural community transport into the scheme.
"Addressing these issues would make a huge difference to people trying to live independent lives in more rural areas."
