North East MSP and Liberal Democrat Transport Spokesperson, Alison McInnes, visited Alford Primary School on Monday at the start of Road Safety Week.
Alison meets the junior road safety officers at Alford Primary school
Alison met with the school's junior road safety officers to hear how they go about promoting the road safety message to fellow pupils.
Mrs McInnes said:
"Road safety week is an ideal opportunity to highlight the good work going on in our schools all year round. The team at Alford are real champions - they had a clear grasp of all aspects of road safety and use their knowledge to get the message across to their fellow pupils.
"The head teacher, Mrs McLeod, the staff and the Parent Council are all very supportive of road safety initiatives. The Parent Council has recently set up a Waking Bus which allows children to safely walk to school from a designated point with a teacher and parent helpers. This mode of transport provides many benefits for the child, reduces traffic congestion and helps the environment."
