Alison McInnes, MSP for North East Scotland, has today congratulated Francis Edwards on winning an international nursing award.
Mr Edwards, the consultant nurse in young people and children's palliative care at Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital, has won the Robert A Milch Award for Palliative Pain and Symptom Management.
Alison McInnes commented:
"I have extended my congratulations to Mr Edwards on this international award and also recognised that the work he does with children and young people from Northern Scotland and the Islands is remarkable.
"Mr Edwards' concept of "Soul Pain" treats the whole person, working with traditional pain management, maximising the comfort of each child and involving the entire family in making choices.
"Mr Edwards has worked tirelessly for the past 25 years; this has been recognised by the award which he collected at the Children's Hospice International congress in South Africa."
