This week - 5 to 11 October is Mental Health Awareness Week, with a series of events running throughout Scotland to promote the importance of good mental health.
The Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAHMS) will be using this week to bring together mental health service users to discuss service improvements and concerns.
Mrs McInnes said:
"I give my support to Mental Health week. One in four people in Scotland will, at some point in their lives, be affected by mental health problems. Most people do recover, given appropriate services.
"People with mental health problems are likely to be affected by stigma and discrimination, are less likely to be employed and more likely to experience harassment.
"It is vitally important, therefore, that Mental Health services be improved and become increasingly accessible. The stigma of mental health problems must be put aside to allow recovery and acceptance."
