Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP has backed calls for SNP Ministers to re-issue their botched consultation on Station Car Parking Policy.
Mrs McInnes calls come after six of the main organisations involved in supporting active travel in Scotland have written a letter outlining the shortcomings of Transport Scotland's consultation.
The letter states that the consultation has been 'fundamentally flawed and should be re-issued to consider all modes of transport people use to access rail stations, not just cars'.
Commenting, Mrs McInnes said:
"Time after time the SNP Government has botched its handling of important consultations.
"It is simply not good enough that Ministers have only directed Transport Scotland to focus on cars in this report.
"I fully support the calls for this consultation to be re-issued to cover all the different forms of transport people use to commute to railway stations across the country.
"This consultation may have serious consequences for commuters across Scotland. It could see an end to free car parking at rural and remote train stations.
"A one size fits all approach simply will not work for all of Scotland's stations.
"Ministers must make the effort to secure responses from the travelling public. Their views must be taken into account on these serious issues."
