Commenting on annual figures showing that Scotland's greenhouse gas emissions are down by 19 per cent since 1990, Liberal Democrat Climate Change spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:
"Any reduction in greenhouse gas emissions should be welcomed. It is clear, however, that if Scotland is to meet the ambitious targets set out in the recent Climate Change Bill much more must be done.
"It is disappointing that Parliament decided not to support my calls for 3% year on year reduction targets.
"This would have really driven forward the action and cultural step-change needed to make Scotland a world leader in tackling climate change.
"Unfortunately both Labour and the SNP failed to support this idea of holding current and future Ministers to account on a yearly basis."
