2009 - 2010 marks the centenary of Girl Guiding in Scotland with celebrations going on all year up and down the country.
In Aberdeen the celebrations will start on Saturday September 5 at Seaton Park where an open invitation has been extended to join the free fun event between 2pm - 6pm.
Alison McInnes, North East MSP, who is herself an Ambassador for Girlguiding, said:
"I wish to congratulate Girlguiding Scotland on their first centenary in 2009 - 2010.
"The movement now sees groups of positive, forward thinking girls in virtually every North East Community, with waiting lists in many areas.
"I am looking forward to the celebrations taking place over the coming year and will endeavour to attend as many as possible within my area.
"The Girlguiding Scotland movement is inspirational to many young girls but at the very centre are the leaders, without whom the units would not operate.
"I am hoping to take part in the Girlguiding debate in Parliament next week as well as attending the festivities in the afternoon, all of which I am looking forward to."
