North East Lib Dem MSP, Alison McInnes, has criticised the Scottish government for 'short changing' Angus in its announcement of funding for town centres across Scotland
While Mrs McInnes welcomed the available funding she questioned the allocation formula used by the Scottish Government, which has seen the Angus applications, in the first instance, lose out. Clarity is also being sought as to which budget the funding is coming from.
Commenting, Mrs McInnes said:
"A great deal of effort went into the applications from communities across the region who will now feel short changed by this announcement.
"The absence of cash for Angus so far is disgraceful. Based on the normal funding allocations for Scotland we have been short changed. After all the promises Ministers must now be made accountable for their failure to deliver.
"It is intended that the bids for Monifieth and Montrose will be re-submitted, which I wholeheartedly support, along with other bids from burghs in Angus."
