Commenting on the proposals put forward by Network Rail for a new £34billion high-speed rail line linking Scotland and London by 2030, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:
"Liberal Democrats believe that Scotland must not be an afterthought in any new high-speed rail proposals.
"I am pleased that Network Rail have agreed that any new high-speed rail line must serve both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
"This supports the cross party view put forward in the recent inquiry from the Transport Committee at Holyrood.
"Linking up our major cities with London in this way is essential to tackle climate change and open up new economic opportunities."
