Commenting after Labour and SNP MSPs joined forces in the Climate Change Committee to block amendments to make emissions targets tougher, Liberal Democrat Climate Change spokesperson Alison McInnes said:
"This was a wasted opportunity. We had a chance today in Committee to introduce scientifically credible interim emissions targets into the Government's Climate Change Bill.
"But the Labour party joined forces with the SNP to frustrate our attempts to give this Bill substance.
"Neither the Conservative nor the SNP Members of the Committee made any contribution to the discussion about this Bill during today's meeting. Given all the hot air from the SNP about "world-leading" legislation and the global consequences of failing to tackle climate change, this is really disappointing."
