Commenting on the Government's review of concessionary fares, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:
"This review has been a pointless exercise. It's taken the SNP an incredibly long time to make just one little change.
"The SNP has missed the perfect opportunity to build on our groundbreaking free travel scheme, introduced by the previous Executive. They could have made public transport more accessible to many people.
"Those who depend on community transport groups will be bitterly disappointed by the Government's decision not to extend the free bus travel scheme to them.
"The full benefits of the concessionary fares scheme aren't felt in rural areas that aren't well served by traditional bus services. The reality of rural life means that in many parts of Scotland community led transport is the only alternative to using a car.
"The only change recommended by this review is to extend free bus travel to seriously injured veterans. While this will be welcome news to our war heroes, it's just matching action that has been long planned in London."
