Alison McInnes, MSP for North East Scotland, will be giving her support to this year's Foster Care Fortnight by calling on the residents of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to consider a career in fostering.
There is currently a shortage of 1700 foster carers in Scotland and more foster carers are needed to provide children with safe and caring homes while they are unable to live with their own families.
The annual Foster Care Fortnight runs from 11 - 24 May and encourages people to consider a career in fostering.
Mrs McInnes commented:
"I would encourage people from all walks of life to look at the skills and qualities they have which would make them ideal foster carers.
"With the current shortage of carers in Scotland running at almost two thousand, I would encourage anyone in the North East of Scotland looking for a career in care to contact The Fostering Network during Foster Care Fortnight.
"Being a foster carer can be one of the most rewarding jobs which makes a real difference to the lives of some of society's most vulnerable children."
