Aberdeenshire MSP, Alison McInnes, has expressed her concern at recently announced plans that would see Haddo House closed to the public. She will be meeting with National Trust for Scotland in Edinburgh next week to discuss the situation, and intends to make strong representations regarding the impact the closure will have on local people and the tourist economy.
Commenting, Ms McInnes said:
"Haddo House is a beautiful building right in the heart of the North East, a much loved part of Grampian life and a great attraction for visitors worldwide.
"It is a huge blow that the National Trust for Scotland has earmarked Haddo for closure - especially in this, the Year of Homecoming when we should be celebrating our heritage.
"I will strongly urge the National Trust to reconsider their decision on what is one of our region's major attractions."
