Alison McInnes, MSP North East Scotland and Malcolm Bruce, MP for Gordon were out in Inverurie town centre on Tuesday (17 February), gauging the effect of the recession on local businesses.
They popped in to chat with owners of some of the independent stores and conducted a survey which gathers information about the impact on business and the concerns for the future in the current economic climate.
Alison McInnes said:
"We are conducting the small business survey to ascertain how our local shops and services are surviving the current climate.
"Inverurie has a very vibrant town centre which will hopefully weather this recession.
"We did not have the chance to call at every business but would appreciate hearing from them, no matter how many staff they employ."
Malcolm Bruce added:
"We hear a lot of anecdotes but I feel it is important to speak directly to local businesses in order to understand local issues.
"Inverurie has a diverse range of local businesses and I hope they can survive the recession that we find ourselves in."
