Aberdeenshire MSP Alison McInnes has expressed her disappointment at the Government's unwillingness to consider the financial impact that road works can have on small businesses.
At Question Time in the Parliament, Mrs McInnes asked the Transport Minister, Stewart Stevenson, whether the Government would look into the possibility of compensating businesses that are seriously affected by road work and repairs.
Commenting, Mrs McInnes said: "I had not expected any firm commitment today, but it is very disappointing that the Minister apparently has no intention even to investigate whether a compensation scheme would be feasible.
"This is an issue that I have already been contacted on by constituents, and with the current economic climate, the problems that small businesses face will be magnified still further.
"I hope that the Minister can yet be convinced of the serious financial impact that inopportunely placed road works can have on small businesses."
