Aberdeenshire MSP Alison McInnes has sent her congratulations to a Peterhead teacher named this week as Scotland's top inventor.
Elaine Stephen, who teaches at Buchanhaven School, was honoured at the John Logie Baird Awards in Glasgow for her invention, the Walkodile, designed to keep children safe when out on walking trips.
Commenting, Mrs McInnes said: "It is absolutely fantastic to see such a wonderful innovation as this coming from one of our local teachers. Nothing is more important than keeping our children safe when out and about, and the Walkodile looks like a brilliant way of doing just that.
"I have written to Mrs Stephen with my congratulations on the award, and I want to commend her for the hard work that I am sure has gone in to this project. Road safety is such a vital issue, one that I'm always keen to campaign on - but it is ideas like the Walkodile that can make the real difference."
