Commenting on the publication of the Scottish Government's Strategic Transport Projects Review, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes said:
"The SNP manifesto promised everything to everyone. Now they have realised there are 'finite resources'. But they leave behind broken promises across Scotland.
"It's a pity that the SNP didn't consider 'finite resources' when their candidates, now MSPs, councillors and Ministers, made wild promises about transport improvements during the 2007 election.
"People in the north of Scotland will feel utterly let down by this Government, which has broken many of its headline election promises."
Commenting on the funding announcement about the new Forth crossing, Mrs McInnes said:
"The SNP say one week that the Treasury is their enemy and we would be better off without them. But now they are relying on the Treasury to put up a £2 billion loan to make sure there is a new Forth crossing along with the rest of their programme.
"They used to say the Forth Bridge would cost £4 billion and now they brag about a £2 billion saving. This is just down to the SNP's dodgy original estimate. It isn't a saving because no money has been spent, let alone saved.
"They used to say that the Scottish Futures Trust would solve everything, but it's not even part of the new Forth crossing. The Minister's statement that the funding deal underlines the 'importance of the Scottish Futures Trust' is simply not credible.
"The biggest thing by-passed by this statement is the Scottish Futures Trust."
