Liberal Democrat MSP for North East Scotland Alison McInnes has challenged Alex Salmond on what progress the Government have made in developing its plans for a Local Income Tax.
Mrs McInnes demanded answers from the First Minister during today's FMQs on what plans the Government have made to protects students and ensure that councils retain power on both sides of their balance sheet.
Commenting, Mrs McInnes said:
"I am encouraged to hear that the Scottish Government is coming round to the Liberal Democrats' way of thinking on a truly local Local Income Tax.
"Liberal Democrats want to make this Bill work. However, the SNP's current proposals do not address some key issues, including the protection of students, the accountability of local councils, small business support and appropriate taxation for those people receiving high levels of income from dividends.
"We will continue to pursue these issues with the Government and make further constructive proposals to improve the Bill before it is published."
