Responding to news that the owners of Inverurie Paper Mill will be conducting a consultation regarding the site's future, Aberdeenshire MSP Alison McInnes said:
"I am shocked and saddened by the news that the future of Inverurie Paper Mill is uncertain. It has been one of the town's main employers since the industrial revolution and its loss would be a major blow to hundreds of families across Aberdeenshire whose livelihoods depend on it.
"Although Inverurie's economy is robust and diverse, closure of the mill would have numerous knock-on effects.
"I will be meeting with International Paper, the Council and Scottish Enterprise with a view to securing as many jobs as possible at the site."
Mrs McInnes' regional office is in Inverurie.
